This is unusual because the base which is square has four large holes which would’ve allowed the table to be bolted to the floor. I therefore draw to the conclusion that this table is from a Victorian ferryboat!
It is an interesting piece of furniture, with a very nice acanthus detail to the base, and a twisted tapered column. The top is a lovely piece of 19th century mahogany. You can see round the edge where people have put their players full strength cigarettes or woodbines while they’ve been having a sip of their pint.
It would look great in a traditional Irish pub, once again bolted to the floor next to a lovely bench and two period wooden stools alongside.
